Alex is a 22 year old purebred Arabian gelding. His registered name is Count Allesandro. In his earlier career he participated in endurance races and has accumulated over 1,200 miles. He has also participated in Ride and Tie Events. In 2001, which was the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express Ride, Alex was one of the horses that participated in the 2,000 mile endurance ride that started in St. Joseph, Mo. and ended in Virginia City, NV. This ride was 50 miles a day, five days a week for eight weeks. During the first 25 days, Alex rode 15 of those days for a total of 750 miles. He did a wonderful job! Congratulations to Alex for all his accomplishments, he is an inspiration and true testament to dedication!
Now Alex spends his days running around the pasture with his horse friends, eating carrots (which he loves), and taking very special children on horseback rides on the trails around Windfall Ranch.
Reins on Manes would like to thank Alex's parents, Terry & David Howe, of Windfall Ranch for so kindly sharing Alex with Reins on Manes. He is a definite favorite amongst students, inspiring courage
