About Cristen

Cristen Boerman

Cristen Nicole Boerman, born and raised in Pine Valley, CA found herself on a horse at a very early age. Beginning lessons at age 5, and receiving her first pony at 7, she is no stranger to the saddle. If the sun was in the sky, Cristen was out on the trail.

She remains a proud partner to a 20-year-old Arabian, known as “Pepper.” Together they have shared the years of growing up and learning life lessons, only strengthening her respect for the truly unique relationship that lies between horse and rider. She explains, “It is a passion that has fed my soul my entire life. With my horse, I feel free, and more alive than I ever have.” Pepper remains her inspiration today.

Cristen has also found a passion in children, and has years of experience in a variety of different educational and childcare settings. She currently holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Child Development from San Diego State University. Cristen also holds a Teaching Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. She has since focused her specialization to youth program development, bringing her love of horses together with her passion for helping children succeed.

Reins on Manes proudly teams with Cristen Boerman in hopes of providing a life-changing program for youth in San Diego. With a respect for the development of youth and the experiences that foster courage and confidence, her hope remains strong that today’s youth find that special bond between horse and rider that touches their life in a lasting way.
